Post by Cantali Shoreman on Aug 27, 2010 18:30:55 GMT -5
Name: Cantali Jessi Shoreman
Played by: Freema Agyeman
Nickname: Can-can, Tali, Jess, Jessi, Beach
Age: 26
Sex: Female
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 140lbs
Scars or Birthmarks: The "tattoo" on her right arm of a butterfly denotes her status as a witch.
Race: Witch
Looks: Cantali tries to dress in a "rough and tumble" manner. She does it so that other people will give her her space that she so adores. Despite her tomboyish-ness she frequently has her hair in a spiky up-do that she actually makes quite a fuss over. Her dark eyes are very expressive, and she carries herself in a proud manner.
Personality: Bar-fights, street brawls, and arguments are what seems to keep this scrappy girl going. While she does have a softer side she is very apt to keep it hidden. She's a firecracker with a sharp tongue and even sharper wit, and she's not afraid to dole out the pain even if she knows she won't win. It's honestly surprising that she made it before the take over.
Likes: Having her space, getting into a good fight, intimidating younger- and older- witches out of her way, faeries, humans, horses.
Dislikes: Most other witches, hugs, vampires, dogs, cats, werewolves, children.
Where they Live: Tiverton
Pets: It can't really be called a pet, but the crow that lives outside of her house has a nasty habit of whistling by her window until she wakes up to bring it some food.
History: The best way to describe Cantali is that she takes after her Mother, Hannah, in a most peculiar fashion. Raised by a head-strong mother and a meek father she was rebellious almost as soon as she could talk. Her mother tried so hard to get her to be a "proper" witch that never dirtied her hands when she could solve things with magic, but Cantali loved brawling in the mud with the neighbourhood children.
It seemed as though it didn't matter if her mother told her to listen, or not to listen she just always did her own thing. Normally she would have been expected to do just the opposite, but she never did if what her mother told her to do coincided with what she enjoyed doing. By the time she was thirteen her mother threw in the towel on raising her and focused more on her younger brother. It was during this time that her father stepped up to bat.
It was his calm words and thoughtful nature that quieted her need to fight the other children. Over time she actually became friends with some of the human children and met some of the faeries in the woods. She preferred their company to that of most of the other witches who reminded her to much of her mother. She shirked her powers to learn from her friends, and as a result she is clumsy with many of the normal witch spells, but makes up for it by being able to magically curry favour with the animal kingdom.
After the uprising her father left town. She stayed in town in the hopes of him returning, and to help her friends and their families escape the city. She certainly doesn't have a major soft spot for humans that are hostile, but if they remind her of her friends or father she is quick to stand up to the other witches to defend them.

Anything else?: As a witch Cantali knows many spells, however she is far from proficient at spells that involve fire or water. She can heal herself to some extent, but is rather clumsy when trying to help others. Her skills have the most potency when it comes to swaying animals to help her. So, instead of shooting, say, a fireball after a werewolf or a faerie she is more likely to try to chase it out with a pack of stray dogs.
The ironic part of her powers is that she is actually afraid of most common domestic pets.
