I think I made a wrong turn...

Molly had a frustrating fiasco when she accidently stumbled into the fairie town of Stoneham. She had been really tired and hungry but none of the dwellers of the strange city were wolcoming in the least bit. She felt like some kind of monster about to chased off the land with pitchforks. She looked down sadly at the ground as she walked, it seemed like she wasn't ever going to find a place to call her own and settle down. Especially since the supernaturals seemed to be expanding west. She had played with the idea of going to the safe zone but from what she had heard it was a busy with hundreds of people all stuffed into a small place. Molly did not deal well with large crowds and the last thing she needed to flip out on somebody and become an outcast among humans along with the witches.

Not really paying attention to where exactly she was wondering, she began to feel like maybe this wasn't a place where she needed to be. She looked down at her puppy, and saw that he was basically shaking with fear. She went down to pet his head, hoping to comfort him but instead he bolted back along the path that they just walked.

Molly looked helplessly behind her and tried to figure out what could have spooked him so much. Pulling her coat even closer to her body she took off and tried to keep up with her dog but she soon went in the wrong direction and had no idea where he had gone.

Feeling her heart beating in her chest, she tried to calm down even though she felt like she was surrounded by eyes watching her. Carefully reaching into her bag she pulled out a knife that she kept on her at all times. She sunk down to the ground by a tree and looked out into the dark forest, the knife she kept lowered and hidden from site. If something was out there she wanted to have the advantage over them.

A small rustling in the leaves overhead could be heard and a ratty brown haversack suddenly fell from the tree Molly was sitting under. This was followed by a figure in a loose and tattered black duster, who swung down from a branch and landed lightly next to the slumped over haversack. Knocked loose, a few stray leaves drifted down, one of them landing on his head. Sitting on his haunches, crouched rather like a monkey, the dark haired young man yawned and stretched his arms and back, as if he had just woken up. Which was, in fact, the case. For a drifter such as himself it was far safer to rest out of sight.
Blinking a few times, he looked up with a sleepy expression at the blonde blue-eyed young woman in front of him.
"Huh," He said, speaking mostly to himself, "Yeah, I thought I heard someone..."
There was coarse prruk-prruk-prruk sound and the flapping of wings as a gaunt looking raven emerged from the branches, perching itself on the young man's shoulder. It's beady black eyes gazed intelligently at Molly.
"Hello." The young man greeted her casually, as if he had not just dropped out of a tree. Covering his mouth, he yawned again.

Everything stayed still, Molly began to calm down ever so slightly. She guessed that maybe she was being a little over paranoid. Wouldn't be the first time she had been spooked by nothing at all.

She got to her feet, and put her knife away back into her bag. Taking a deep breath, she got ready to try again to catch up with her dog. She stopped dead in her tracks when a sack of some sort fell from the trees. Molly stared at it in shock, bags just didn't fall from the sky, it meant that there was a person in the trees just waiting.

Slowly reaching back into her bag, she felt her hand grip the handle, a person did dropped down. Molly jumped back until her back hit the tree and stared at the person in even more shock.

"Uhh Hi" she said with a small wave.

[Vahn]

"Hello." He repeated, standing and stretching his legs. He returned her wave. "Did I startle you? My apologies."
As he watched her, he cast a silent detect magic spell, using the wave as a disguise for the spell's somatic component. The spell registered nothing. 'Hmm... No magic. Nervous. Probably human. Why is a lone human... wait, where are we even?'
'Hell if I know. You know we just wander at random.'
'Right. Thank you, Karas.'
"Soo... you hungry?" He said aloud and began to dig around in his haversack and produced an apple, which he offered to the girl. "Troubled times, gotta stick together, yadda yadda. Do you know where we are?"

Molly was in complete shock, she had no idea what to say to this strange man. It didn't seem as though he was going to be any danger to her, so she let her only weapon drop back in her bag. She knew her reflexes were fast enough to whip it out if she was wrong about him.

Wordlessly she took to the apple from him.

"Umm Cortland maybe, well near Cortland not in it" She guessed. She had seen a cemetery, that was a breeding ground for vampires.

[Vahn]

"Cortland..." He said slowly, scratching the top of his head. "Vampire territory. Hm."
He shrugged and dug around his bag for another apple. Dropping the bag at his feet, he bit into the fruit. Chewing and swallowing, he wiped a bit of juice off his chin with his sleeve.
"Safety in numbers. If you don't mind, we should probably stick together, at least for a little while. By the way, you can call me Vahn." He pointed to the bird perched on his shoulder. "That's Karas."
At the mention of his name, the raven let out a grating call.
"He says 'nice to meet you'."
